Care, by appointment

A few things we do well, none of them rushed

Everything starts with a conversation. Maren will suggest what might fit, and you decide.

  • Acupuncture needles resting along the upper back of a patient lying face down

    Acupuncture

Fine, single-use needles and a long, quiet rest. Many patients come for back and neck pain, headaches, stress or sleep.

    About acupuncture
  • A therapist placing glass cups on the back of a patient lying on a massage table

    Cupping

Glass cups gently lift the skin over tight muscles. It can leave round marks that usually fade within a week.

    About cupping
  • A wooden bowl of dried Chinese herbs and roots beside glass cupping jars

    Chinese herbal consults

A 45-minute conversation, then a custom formula or a simple tea. Everything is checked against the medications you take.

    About herbs
  • A therapist pressing and rolling the shoulder of a client lying on their side

    Tui na bodywork

Firm, rhythmic Chinese massage with Tomás, often used for stiff necks, tight shoulders and low backs.

    About tui na
  • A hand pouring hot tea into small ceramic cups on a tray beside a sunny window

A first visit

Your first visit is mostly a conversation

You’ll have about 75 minutes. Maren asks about your health, your sleep, your digestion and what a good week looks like, then looks at your tongue and takes your pulse. Then you rest on a heated table for 20 to 30 minutes with a few fine needles.

Many people are surprised by how little it hurts, and by how sleepy they get.

  • Single-use needles, always
  • A quiet room, a heated table and soft blankets
  • Nothing to prepare except a light meal

What patients say

  • ★★★★★
“I’d put off acupuncture for years because I assumed it would be expensive and a little woo. The community evening was $35, Maren explained everything in plain English, and I slept like a rock that night.”

  • ★★★★★
“Fifteen years of a stiff low back from a desk job. Six visits in, I get out of the car without that wince. Maren never promised anything. She just said, let’s see how you respond.”

  • ★★★★★
“Priya remembered my name and how I take my tea by my second visit. The room is so quiet that I fell asleep both times.”
